SENSOR DEFINITIONS

Definition

A Sensor definition defines the characteristics and features of a sensor in terms of attributes.

Before you can configure a Sensor definition you need a Sigfox definition defined in the MEUNGO platform.

There are two options to create a new sensor definition, first you can use a template, and second you can define one from scratch. Let's have a look at one of the templates defined, we select ED1608 this pretty much also explains what you need to do when you define one from scratch.

SensorDefinition1

A new sensor definition is created and is shown in the table. You can look at the details by double clicking on the row or click on the blue icon on the right in the row.

SensorDefinition2

On the detail page of your Sensor definition you need to configure what Sigfox definition to use and what key you will use. In both cases you likely have one option and otherwise you probably are already an experienced user. Select for both the appropriate option.

SensorDefinition3

The Sigfox definition is associated with a Sigfox device type, this sensor definition will translate the data coming from this device type in attributes which you can add and configure here. You can see three tab pages on this sensor definition page:

  • ATTRIBUTES, these are the characteristics or features of this sensor

  • PAYLOAD CONVERSION, this is some logic to translate the 12 bytes coming from yor Sigfox device into the attributes

SensorDefinition4

  • SIGFOX DEFINITION, this is information about some automagically generated callback function in the Sigfox backend

SensorDefinition5

At this point you have defined a Sigfox definition and Sensor definition, next step is defining what sensors instances you have.
